Support the Patient Experience team, which will include assisting the hospital with the collection of valuable feedback from patients and their families.
At the beginning of your shift, you will always report to either the Patient Experience Team in the Quality Improvement Centre (QIC) office and/or Palliative Care team.
Your shift may involve some or all of the following:
- Listening and chatting with patients regarding their experience whilst in hospital
- Encouraging patients and their families to provide feedback about their experience of the RUH
- Supporting our commitment to the Friends and Family Test (FFT) in obtaining feedback and learning from what our patients tell us
- Supporting patients with reading, writing and recording their reply to specific questions, either in writing or via an electronic tablet
- Spending time with patients without pre-empting or coercing their decisions and feedback
- Collecting completed surveys from various locations around the hospital and upload responses onto an online application (with training)

Support and training:
- Friends of the RUH will provide mandatory hospital induction and training
- A named member of staff will induct the volunteer into the role and provide guidance and supervision as needed
- Volunteers will receive regular and ongoing support from the Friends of the RUH.
