Located on Mary Ward and NICU at the Royal United Hospital, Bath – Volunteer Shifts will cover 7 days a week 08.00hrs – 12.00hrs

General Tasks on Mary Ward, you will be supporting with the breakfast and Refreshment round, supporting pharmacy runs to aid discharge, befriending and assisting staff by responding to patient call bell requests, photocopying and checking stock, in store cupboards. You will also be responsible for keeping the staff room and visitor areas tidy.

General tasks on NICU will include supporting families that are on the unit by talking with them, playing with siblings and making sure they are comfortable. Tidy and clean toys in the playroom and top up supplies in cots and trolleys, that may be running low on the unit, alongside, tidying baby clothes and blankets in the donation box in reception and NICU cupboard.

Skills

You will need to have a patient and calm manner, with excellent communication skills, non-judgemental and sensitive approach, with a positive, reliable attitude, and ability to work well in a team.

Outcomes

You will get to meet new people, share existing skills and develop new, gaining a sense of satisfaction, for giving something back to your Community, whilst gaining experience volunteering in a clinical environment/healthcare setting.
